HELP!!!

I’ve been in my fair share of meetings this last month… it seems that each new week has brought with it one meeting or two.

With the exception of 2, the bulk of these meetings have all ended in the same way…. in prayer.

There is something remarkable about talking about life issues, talking about work issues, and then pausing at the end of the meeting and talking to the only One who is able to properly address all our issues and problems.

It reminds me that without God we are hopeless. Unless God intervenes in our plans and changes them, what we are attempting to do will ultimately fail.

When we pause to pray, we are declaring our dependence upon the Lord. Jesus said in John 15:5: "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (NIV)

Unless we remain connected to Jesus we are unable to function properly.

God's Power Tool....

My wife gave me compound miter saw for Christmas. Since then, I have purchased a few more tools that have helped me in my new found hobby of wood-working.

Each tool has its own purpose, and each tool is useful, but of all the tools I have (and would like to have) there is one tool that has proven itself time and again.

It’s my “Black & Decker Smart Select Multi Sander”. This one tool allows me to improve the quality of my work, by insuring that all the imperfections on the wood are gone, and I am left with a smooth surface.

You know; God’s Word acts like a sander. When the Word is applied to our life, it has the power to remove all the imperfections that are in my life.

The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (NIV)

If we read, and apply God’s word, it has the power to make us become the people that God desires us to be… we become His masterpiece.

The Bible reminds us that “…we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Eph. 2:10, NIV)

God takes great care to sand off the imperfections in our life. This might not happen at warp-speed, but it will happen, and, when we look back at our lives, we can see that God, thru His word, was at work sanding off our rough edges!
