In an instant.....

I had to purchase a new comptuer this week.... not something I wanted to do, but it was something that I needed to do. you see the old one was 7 years old and simply had no room left on it......

I went into Staples and asked the fellow for a computer and we talked for a while, and when I found one that I wanted, I also asked him if they could transfer my files from the old machine to the new machine... He told me that it would take about 2 days.

"TWO DAYS... I need it for work this afternoon" I said.

He said the best he could do is have it ready in one day......

So I am waiting for my new one to be done at the end of the week.....

I've said all of this to say, that I don't like to wait. If I want something, I generally want it now. It's only "normal" for we live in an instant society-- High Speed internt, Drive- Thus, fast cars...... but One thing-- er-- Person is not usually Instant. God. ( because it's "normal" doesnt mean it's right... but that's for another posting)

Normally when we ask for something from God, It's not usually Instant. Sometimes, we will have to wait. I think God does this for many reasons, the primany one is to teach us how to wait--> patience.
I think about Elijah wanting to see God in 1 Kings 19. God did not show up in the noise of the rain, or the storm, but He showed up in the quiet. God wanted Elijah to wait, and when God doesn't answer my prayers in an instant, He wants me to wait.... not to look to something/someone else, but to wait on Him. The Bible says:" those who wait on the Lord will find new strength...." (Is. 40:31, NIV)

It could be that when God asks me to wait, He has something better for me.... it might not be a new computer... it might be something much better!!!!!!!!!
