So, a little Monday (or whatever day you’re reading this) encouragement.
A few years ago, the lead singer of my All-time Favourite Band, Third Day, released a project called “Glory Revealed” and one of the cuts off this CD was called “he will rejoice”
This song led me to do a little bit of digging and it turns out that this song actually came from the Old Testament Book of Zephaniah.
Zephaniah was a minor prophet who lived around the dates of 640-609. His main message was to let the people know of their coming demise because of their refusal to obey God.
Almost toward the end of the doom and gloom message that he brought, we read these words of encouragement: Zep 3:17 The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”
Oh. My. Word. Just the exact words that we need to be reminded of. When everyone in the world seems to be angry at everyone else, the prophet reminds us of this wonderful truth: God is pro us. God loves us. God even rejoices over us with singing. (even when we think we are having a bad day. Especially when we are having a bad day)
This is a being statement. Not a doing statement. This verse is true just because. Just because God is love. He is not out to get you. He is not out to ruin your fun. He is madly in love with you and has an exact plan for your life. (Jeremiah 29:11)
So a little bit of encouragement today. God loves you. God is with you. He is mighty and strong to save you. He can fight your battles. He will even sing over you. That’s the kind of thoughts we should be thinking about, our Heavenly Father rejoicing over us. Because He is love.
