Copy Cat

I was helping my youngest daughter get dressed this morning, and as I was making her bed, I noticed that her sister came in her room to give her a hand-me-down. Erica (my youngest) asked Emma (my oldest) “what are you going to wear today?”

I responded by saying “it doesn’t matter what she’s wearing, you’ve already chosen your clothes”

This is not the first time Erica has done this. More often than not, she’ll ask her sister what she’s doing and then she will want to do the same thing, take supper for example.

I will ask Erica what she wants to drink and she will pause, and look at and ask her sister, and I will interject, “I didn’t ask Emma, I asked you”

Erica will then respond with “water”. I will then ask Emma and she will say “milk”, then Erica will say she wanted milk…
I’ve got to tell you, this drives me NUTS! I don’t like it at all. I think it`s…. well Biblical!

Erica is trying to imitate Emma, just like I am supposed to Imitate God.

The Bible says in Ephesians 5:1-2 says:``Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. " ( NIV)

1 John 2:6 says: " Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did."

I am to imitate Jesus, just the way that my youngest wants imitate her big sister…

It seems that being a copy cat can be a good thing!
